After one hike, they seem like decent shorts. They fit me fine, seem durable and water resistant enough, although time will tell on durability and water resistance. My one complaint is that the pockets are simply not deep enough. When I put my cell phone (fairly normal size these days at 6.5'' x 3'') in the main front pocket, it jabs me in the gut, because it sits so high in the pocket. Even taking high steps it's jabbing me - and sitting down, forget about it. So I tried the other front pocket. it doesn't go deep enough to hold the phone and cannot be zipped to keep the phone safe (see photo). I'm not comfortable leaving my phone in this pocket either, because I'm afraid it will fall out in the middle of the woods while hiking. Not a big enough problem to return them, but it's a bummer that I'll have to pack my phone in my backpack or something instead :-(I bought 5 pairs of these for work and so far they have held up just fine for me. Unfortunately I did not read the size chart well enough and ordered 1 size too large and the shorts are HUGE on me.However with a belt they will at least stay around my waste until the bleach eventually starts tearing holes in them.Speaking of bleach, despite getting large amounts of highly concentrated bleach on them they have only mildly changed in color; they also seem to be holding up surprisingly well considering that most other clothing starts getting massive holes in them after a couple of weeks.TLDR; Shorts are fine, read the size chart. Will update if anything happens to them. Now I didn't notice from the pics that these shorts had velcro instead of a top button or snap. Normally I wouldn't have got them based on this because I have had lots of other clothes with velcro and it's either prickly and uncomfortable while you wear it or if you don't close the velcro it will tear up other items in the wash. So far though wearing them isn't uncomfortable, although I do make sure to carefully line up the velcro when I close it. Pockets are a good size and in a good location.Just as described, these must be worn with a belt, only cheap velcro holding the top together. Pockets seem cheap material, I do not see long life on the pockets.I'm frequently disappointed by the quality of mass produced 'cents on the dollar' clothing on amazon but I think I actually found a winner. These are the perfect summer hiking shorts. They're comfortable, breath easy and I LOVE the crazy amount of pockets. The large "magazine" pocket on either side will hold a full size water bottle! The fabric could be a little thicker and I'd prefer there was a button instead of Velcro but I can live with that. I was worried they'd look a little too "tacticool" but at a glace they look like normal cargo shorts. For the price, I like 'em.I saw a lot of reviews with bad stitching and ripped material. I suspect that the quality control of these shorts is lackluster. If you get a crappy pair, ask for an exchange.Comfortable but as an American the front pockets sit weird, I'm told their European design. Other than that still new and only worn a few times but so far so good ?Will return in a couple weeks to give a more in depth review. So far, about a 9 our 10, 1 week inThe only complaint I have is the cheap Velcro closure. There needs to be a button or snap instead.
