I'm a 34. Bought 34. Good fit.When I first got these shorts and tried them on, I laughed at how long they were. Completely past my knee cap. But, after I washed them they shrunk enough to be mid knee and now I wear them as part of my go to shorts collection. Even though they are still my longest shorts, the material is really soft and it doesn't catch on my knee. The pockets are good size and the quality and construction is as good as any. There are no branding tags.I wish they didn't display them on the product page with a belt; I didn't read in the product description they do not come with a belt. Size 29, for me, is just a tad too loose so I was hoping for a belt, but one thing not indicated on the product page is they do come with a draw string inserted around the inside waist band, so I was successfully able to tie that up enough to give me just enough tightness. There are also inside draw strings around each leg, which I find useless and annoying, so I cut them off.The only ding I would give them is the fly zipper seems just a little light duty. I am not sure if it won't last but I'd have more confidence if the zipper was a little heavier duty.I have become a fan of cargo shorts in recent years; you just can't beat their utility, especially if you carry around gadgets like a cell phone, earbuds, and the like.Plus, I'm an old geezer, so I really don't care how geeky I may look!What's not to like with this particular pair of cargo shorts?The fit and finish are spot-on, the cotton twill seems durable and breathable, and there are pockets galore.I also especially appreciate the fact that the pockets here close with either buttons or on one small (change? earbuds? loose joints?) pocket, a zipper.Some of my other cargo shorts have pockets with velcro closure, and I find those annoying, as the velcro always adheres to itself automatically, making it hard to reach in and grab a Kleenex when you need it -- fast! -- from an open pocket.These shorts have two straps at each of the leg openings. I'm not sure what these are for, but I tied each pair together so they wouldn't dangle down my legs, and I think maybe they cinched in each leg a little. Beats me, but perhaps someone will find them useful.So in summary, these cargo shorts are just what the doctor ordered for comfort and convenience...These are 100% cotton which I prefer to most manufactured fabrics. The material is reasonably heavyweight and holds its shape. The various pockets are well sewn., 6 plus a zippered front security pocket.So – what size to order? If you look at the product shots, you’ll see one with sizes. At the bottom of the chart, it says “if you prefer more room, buy one size up.” Normally I wear a 36 waist. However the size chart says that the 36 size has a 38.2 waist – a little confusing! I don’t like my shorts to be too tight, but I figured a 38 waist would be big enough. That’s what I ordered. Turns out, they fit just fine.Be aware – these shorts don’t come with the belt shown. However, there is a thick drawstring on the inside of the waist, and 2 more around the hems of the leg. I don’t like tied legs, and given that the waist has good belt loops as well, I pulled out and discarded the ties.I like the cut and look of these practical shorts. They’re comfortable, well made, and recommended.I got these for my husband and he is quite pleased with how they fit and feel. Comfortable, easy to wash and come out of the dryer wrinkle free. He's happy, I'm happy, it's a winning combination.Fits good, feels durablePicture is misleading, it implies there is a belt with this item, and there is not.? Great sturdy fabric! But photo does not show ties at hems on the sides of shorts. I prefer not to have these ties and will probably end up cutting them off. They fit a little large around the waist but that can be resolved by wearing a belt. I appreciate the quick delivery. Thank you.
